Making a Soul Cycle Mobile Audio System

The Soul Cycle requires many hours of cabinetry and wiring, but it's worth the wait!

 

Glueing a brace to the back wall of the Soul Cycle cabinet to minimize vrbrations in the the speaker panel. The fewer vibrations in this panel, the more energy from the amp goes into producing clean, crisp, resonant music. The giant rubber bands help secure the brace where clamps can't do the job.

 

The red foam is a gasket for the speaker panel, helping to create an airtight speaker enclosure. Having an airtight enclosure is essential to maximizing the sound from the speakers.

The translucent speaker panel mounts to the wooden stereo cabinet with machine screws. Wood screws can strip when you use them repeatedly. Machine screws allow unlimited access to the interior of the cabinet. Machine screws also require the use of threaded inserts, or "Roseannes".

The wires coming through the speaker cabinet are routed with this rubber sleeve to ensure they are free from kinks, and that the speaker cabinet remains airtight. The silver paint maximizes the effect of the speaker backlighting.
